Position Overview
The Material Handler Supervisor plays a key role in overseeing day-to-day warehouse operations, including inventory control, distribution, and cycle counting activities. This position ensures that processes are executed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with quality and compliance standards while supporting team productivity and performance.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee and participate in daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory counts, and outbound shipments
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of inbound and outbound transactions using established systems and procedures
- Supervise tasks such as unloading, put-away, labeling, picking, packing, replenishment, cycle counting, and shipping
- Verify inventory accuracy and assess product condition across storage and picking locations
- Investigate discrepancies including shortages, mis-picks, and inventory variances
- Support and contribute to the cycle count audit process, including research and reconciliation
- Escalate inventory issues and findings to leadership as needed
- Maintain compliance with company policies, OSHA standards, and hazardous materials regulations
- Promote a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment through regular housekeeping practices
- Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives within warehouse operations
- Assist with additional operational duties and projects as assigned
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and moving equipment
- Strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity standards, including flexibility for overtime
- Self-motivated with a high level of accountability and attention to detail
- Comfortable using computerized inventory and scanning systems
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Working knowledge of MRB, NIL, and PNF procedures is preferred
Qualifications
- Minimum of 6–12 months of warehouse or related experience required
- Forklift operations once hired by client
- Experience supporting or guiding team members in a warehouse setting
- Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred
