Accountant I

Job Summary/Company:

Sparks Group, in partnership with a 60-year-old financial institution in Washington, DC, is seeking a motivated Accountant. The Accountant will be responsible for a range of functions including, but not limited to, journal entries, documentation and completion of adjustments involving general ledger and/or member transactions, and a strong emphasis on accounts payable. Responsibilities:

• Provide full-cycle accounting services for credit union clients - daily processing, uploading data, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Prepare, process, and file all accounts payable while researching and resolving discrepancies
• Maintain accurate and balanced general ledgers
• Assist with month-end close and ensure timely delivery of deliverables
• Independently troubleshoot and resolve vendor issues
• Identify and implement process improvements

Qualifications/Background Profile:

• 2 years’ college with 1 year’ professional accounting experience
  • 3+ years’ professional accounting experience may be considered in lieu of education
• Progressive accounting experience in financial industry is highly preferred
• Knowledge of banking/credit union products and services
• PC proficient with MS Office Suite

Pay Range: Hourly $24.00 to $25.00
