Sparks Group has partnered with a well-established Regional Construction & Field Services Firm in search of a meticulous Payroll Specialist to lead their end-to-end compensation process. Reporting to the Senior Finance lead, you will be the architectural backbone of the field compensation strategy. You will bridge the gap between daily site production logs and final earnings, ensuring that our highly skilled field crews are paid accurately for every unit of work completed.
Responsibilities:
- Production-Based Earnings: Manage the calculation and verification of piece-rate pay structures, reconciling square footage and unit-based production with labor hours.
- Compliance Oversight: Execute full-cycle payroll while maintaining strict adherence to Davis-Bacon Act requirements, prevailing wage standards, and multi-state hour laws.
- Reporting & Auditing: Generate Certified Payroll Reports (CPR) and ensure precise job costing by allocating labor expenses to specific multi-million dollar projects.
- Field Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for field superintendents and foremen to resolve discrepancies and manage specialized union or incentive deductions.
Qualifications/Background Profile:
- Sector Expertise: 2–5 years of payroll experience with a dedicated focus on the Construction or Industrial Trades sector.
- Technical Literacy: Proven ability to navigate payroll software ecosystems and automated reporting platforms (e.g., LCPtracker or similar).
- Mathematical Precision: Expert-level ability to calculate complex "piece-work" formulas and perform retro-pay adjustments.
- Compliance Fluency: Deep understanding of wage-and-hour laws, including non-production time (travel/safety) and minimum wage "floor" protections.
