Asst. Controller

Job Summary/Company:
Sparks Group in collaboration with a construction company, is searching for a motivated and proactive Asst. Controller. The Asst. Controller will assist with overall financial management of the company. They will be responsible for reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis, provide oversight for payroll and billing and even perform full-charge accounting functions. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a clear vision of the role of finance in realizing company’s objectives and priorities. Responsibilities:

• Prepares financial statements according to GAAP to summarize and forecast company's financial status
• Manages balance sheets, analyzes future earnings and expenses
• Assists with accounting, auditing, and budgeting tasks
• Assists with audit preparation and reconciliation of accounting inaccuracies
• Ensures compliance with CFO and upper management, supports team efforts and related tasks

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally including current or recent construction industry experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA or CPA a strong plus.
• Proficient in GAAP, financial processes, internal controls, Microsoft Excel, and experience with construction-specific software like Timberline, Procore, Sage, or Viewpoint Spectrum
• Must be organized, self-motivated, able to manage multiple tasks, have excellent communication skills, positive attitude, and desire for growth.
